Allied Workers for the Blind November 4, 2011
The meeting was called to order by President Tom Jones at 7:39 pm.
President Jones led the assembly in the Lord's Prayer.
Twenty-five members were present.
Treasurer William Hawkins reported that stuff has been given to Jerry Annunzio to conduct the audit. Tom Jones, Melvin Smith, and Shirley Brokaw received assistance for the MCB convention. The new scholarship account has $250 that was donated by Sheri Block. The report will be filed for audit.
James White moved that the October minutes be adopted. The motion was adopted.
Due to health issues, Jerry Annunzio needs to resign as Education and Welfare Chairperson. Linda Coccovizzo nominated Terrie Arnold to fill the position. She was elected by acclamation.
Corresponding Secretary Shirley Brokaw announced birthdays occurring in October.
Activities Committee Chairperson Brittney Hollins gave the Activities Committee report. By a show of hands, it was approved to meet at Hickok's on December 4 for social time and a short monthly business meeting.
Public Relations Chairperson Tracy Hawkins gave the Public Relations Committee report. She reported on the October safety event. The scholarship recipient will receive whatever money is raised for this purpose to assist with tuition.
Transportation and Communications Committee Chairperson Norm Burke-Yale reported that 3cars were used.
Membership Committee Chairperson Shirley Brokaw reported that Danny and Kathey Wheeler are moving to St. Louis.
Fundraising Committee Chairperson Linda Coccovizzo reminded members about the tickets for the drawing for the Brailler and Book Port.
Cheryl Frank nominated Shirley Brokaw to represent AWB on the MCB Board. Shirley was elected by acclamation.
President Jones said that the PA system should be available for the January meeting.
Ricky Hampton is now the Transportation Committee Chairperson. Shirley Brokaw will send email to the transportation company.
Janelle Edwards gave an MCB Board report.
Terrie Arnold was nominated to represent AWB on the MCB Transportation Committee and was elected by acclamation.
Cheryl Frank nominated Melvin Smith to represent AWB on the MCB committee created to work with other affiliates in various areas and he was elected by acclamation.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:27 pm.
